One of my family’s favorite traditions is visiting Legoand during Christmas and last week the The tree lighting ceremony as part of LEGOLAND California Resort’s winter celebration took place and it was beautiful.Fireworks filled the sky and snow fell onto the crowd.
Jodie Sweetin, the star of Hallmark Channel’s Countdown to Christmas’ new original movie, “Entertaining Christmas,” helped Santa pull the switch to light the world’s largest LEGO® Christmas tree at LEGOLAND® California Resort during the 16th annual tree lighting ceremony in Carlsbad, California.
Prior to Sweetin pulling the switch that turned on more than 11,000 LED lights on the 30-foot tall Christmas tree, she was presented with a LEGO cupcake ornament as an invitation to return next year for the Park’s 20th birthday celebration.
In honor of the Park’s birthday and its recent announcement of “Kids free admission on their birthdays in 2019,” Master Model Builders created 20 special LEGO cupcake ornaments to represent each year the family theme park has been open for millions of guests to enjoy.
The new ornaments adorn the enormous tree which features more than 400 other LEGO decorations and is created from 245,000 green DUPLO® bricks.
The tree lighting ceremony is part of LEGOLAND California Resort’s winter celebration, Holidays at LEGOLAND California Resort. Now through Dec. 31, 2018, Funtown has been transformed into a winter wonderland.
Kids can sing and dance as they watch the LEGO Friends live holiday show and join in building activities. Occasional snow flurries and a traveling holiday band playing festive music will fill families with the feeling of winter.
Guests can also enjoy character meet and greets with LEGO Santa and a LEGO toy soldier plus collect holiday inspired pop badges. The year ends with San Diego’s biggest Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party on Dec. 31 where families can ring in 2019 before midnight.
All Holidays activities are included with regular Park admission. For information, visit: LEGOLAND.com
